I always laugh when people say "read the patch notes". As if that "works".
Pro Tip: for YEARS AND YEARS... devs have dozens if not HUNDREDS of patch notes, in MULTIPLE locations, (steam forums, official forums, Official game webpage, etc...) and Not always do they post the same thing.. since "patch notes" tends to be generic forum troll talk for "read what the devs be saying duh".
If there was ONLY one form of patch notes, and ONLY one place those notes were posted, and stuff was clearly stated.. then yep.. sure would be a good resource.
Sadly, most/all games love to have the info in multiple places to get multiple view sources... And even then... who's gonna go back and read DOZENS if not HUNDREDS of different "patch notes" to see all the current info.
I've done it for multiple games, and keep up on those notes, to help people in steam forums... It takes as much time to do, as a part time job. But not everyone has the time or desire to do it for any game, let alone ALL the games they play.
Thus... forums.. TO ASK questions.
Clarity.... for those new to steam forums.. or games in general. Patch notes SHOULD be a "section" for THAT patch of the game, with NOTES to explain the changes. Most will agree. But in almost ALL games, the info needed or people in forums say "should have read the patch notes" is in fact in Developer diaries, Developer Posts, Developer Youtubes, Patch Notes, Official posts on official forums etc.... Yet some forum people consider them all "patch notes" since the Devs said it... And even if they don't mean that.. Most gamers will assume that reading the "patch notes" will NOT give all info, since many of those other things exist.. so Tend to ask their question in a forum. And this doesn't even address how many "patch notes" there might be for a game 5 or 10 years old.. etc..
You didn't have to read the full change log, which the devs conveniently linked in the announcement. Rubbing one's remaining two clues together to get a spark going is all that would be needed to figure it out.
I mean, if the devs made a seed called NOSLIMES and my venture into such a world meant a slime rain in the first minute and a slime king spawn in the first day, of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ COURSE I'm not going to go on the forums and ask if there's a slimeless seed, because of course there's not.

Edit: Not the whole thing. Just....just the second sentence.
This is simply typical human behavior and the common issue of misinterpretation.
Consider facts and nothing but facts and you won't run into this problem. If you read something and start interpreting things and come to assumptions that "confirm" the things you want, you can't play the other party, if they never said that.
So,while yes,it is a common mistake it's still obvious who's at fault. Though I guess most people seem to be unable to stop interpreting things that were never said, which is my main conversation issue. People also tend to take whatecer I say in weird ways I've obviously never meant and then blame me for it, when everything I've said was 100% factually correct and they brought the error in by assuming I was meaning sth different from what I've actually said.
Also I am sorry if this is too offtopic, but as this is only an assumption itself I'd be glad if someone can tell me if I'm correct in assuming that most people (mis)interpret things automatically and have a hard time turning that off, because that way I can at least understand why those issues happen so frequently (bc I honestly can't really understand it bc it should be easily avoidable?). If something isn't clear ask about it or dismiss it as sth that doesn't contain any actual information. As soon as you start assuming things while not being sure it's on you.
So @OP,yes,I do 100% believe that the fault lies with you for not informing yourself. An update only tells you there's an update and even the patch notes did say that not everything is included bc they want people to experience and find new things on their own aswell without spoiling everything. There never was a mnetion of the seed actually including no traps and if we want to talk about different possible interpretations you could assume the seed name "I wish for no traps" rather than "this map contains no traps" and it does seem like the seed was perfect for (getting) you, someone who hates traps (worked up), so while you're point is understandable if we allow all sorts of interpeetation about what was actually said in the patchnotes one can easily show that they've been nothing but the truth.
Also,I do apologize if my perspectibe on this topic is weird, I typed this much so you might be able to understand it,as my arguments aren't solely based on this one issue anymore, but the entire issie of misinterpretation. So if you consider my perspectice weird feel free to blame autism for it if that helps you to understand why I think the way I do.
like the oldest trick in the book. Good job trolling people though, devs.
