Thank you, had a rough time getting into the snow biome and it seemed strange that I had all this ore yet not a drop of stone - Ill head to the east and west from there. Appreciate the non-snarky answer.
I died of hunger many times on early DST seed run cause no fruits were dropping.
Now mushrooms count for food so don't waste your time shaking trees.
Eat shrooms!
Yea on vanilla seeds maybe.
X Doubt on that "Quickly" on the DST seed. Cause you will die from starvation before you can actually rush a cooking pot unless you either pre-check the world where everything is so you can rush it efficiently or you are extremely lucky .. going blindly yea not so much you will starve if you don't have fruits as backup - which you won't if you have ♥♥♥♥ RNG luck like me.
Hence why the mushroom change was needed for that seed.
Whenever you live or starve in early game was too dependent on RNG
P(makes at least one) = 1 - P(misses a given attempt) ** n
Probability of getting 1 fruit from a tree is at least 5%, you can shake 500 trees per day.
1 - (0.95)**500 = 0.99999999999272555
That is, less that 1 in a trillion.
Conclusion: You're either a liar or did not shake enough trees.
Especially since this is no longer an issue due to Re-Logic making Mushrooms restore hunger for that very reason of being too RNG dependent to not die of starvation on DST seed.
1st world had Corruption immediately to the right and Desert to the left right after Living trees. Shaking still yielded 6 fruits 1st day. I ran around collecting easy loot from chests and teleported back home at night. Built 2 houses and went underground for another chest.
I had to make furnace to smelt enough Iron, but still had enough for both Anvil and the cooking pot. Went out immediately and started shaking. Got 2 fruits, but I could still immediately make juice, lasting twice as long as a raw fruit, because bottles are a common loot and I've already had the Cooking pot. Merchant shows up later in the morning and I immediately buy bug net. Hunger is over.
2nd world: initial forest shaking yielded only 2 fruits, but I had Ice to the left and easy access to underground chest on the right, so had even more Iron bars and did not need the Furnace. Shaking 1st thing in the morning yielded 5 fruits. Merchant showed up at roughly the same time in the morning again, with bunnies/squirrels following suit.
Conclusion: You're either one of the worst players in the game or you are straight up lying again.
