How do the active stones work?

I know they're connected to certain devices, I know because I got six of them from a boulder trap, I just want to lay down a statue, a button, and the active stone connecting it and then spawn whatever i want!

Active stone blocks don't work the way you think they do. Active stone blocks are basically stone blcoks that when powered with wire[you can see the wire from the boulder trap with that pressure plate], will turn from a solid object, into a background object, allowing he boulder, or player top of them to fall through, and breaking any object, like statues, on top of them[they can also go back to being a solid object through the same method of activation]. If you want to use statues to spawn things in, you just need the pressure plate, corresponding statue, wire, and a wrench from the mechanic, who is found in the dungeon after killing Skeletron. You then wire the pressure plate to the statue and step on it, and provided its a suiteable statue, as not every statue spawns something in, it will spawn something in.
