Why the ♥♥♥♥ do I have to be within MELEE RANGE of this thing to fight it?

Why didn't it despawn the first
second
third
fourth
fifth
or sixth ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time it killed me?

Third off
Again, why the ♥♥♥♥ isn't this thing despawning

Fourth off
Why does it instead of despawning
wander back to a set point in the ice biome

I couldn't use my pylons

To go back to the STILL NOT DESPAWNING BOSS
So I had to walk half the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ map to fight a boss 7 times
That should have despawned the first time

And thanks for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up my frost core farming with this ♥♥♥♥ tier boss.

yeah not doing this ♥♥♥♥ again, going to grab a zenith just to fight any more deerclops that pop up

1: you can leave the game and rejoin. bam, the boss is gone
2: it doesnt despawn for awhile since it is a hard boss, aka P O S T skeletron
3: If you weren't in melee range of the boss and you could still hit it, it would be too OP

*It isnt despawning bc you keep trying to go to the snow biome to kill it in under 2m

The reason you need to be close to the boss to hit it is because all its attacks are fairly short ranged and it would become easy to beat. Also if you have the patience to wait a couple minutes Deerclops will despawn, it likes to wander around after killing you because its from don't starve.

And why tf did you die to Deerclops seven times with hardmode gear? If you can beat Wall of Flesh you can beat deerclops.

But then at least the Deerclops drops useful things for its point in progression unlike the Old Ones Army whose drops are all post golem and are useless by that point.
