you dont need to stay near them- at least i never do
Be sure to use the flower rod when you harvest to increase your yields!
Does it have ANY special requirement? Underground? Lighting? Biome? Whatever?

As you can see some blinkroots are planted on the right (even in Dryad blinkroot pot if that does anything...) but they never grow.
Not very helpful. 2 hours and no plant grew.
A link to the Official Terraria Wiki's page on planter boxes [terraria.fandom.com]
As for you, dear Original Poster, in your imgur image the blinkroot on the far right looks to be mature. if in doubt or dire need create multiple strips of dirt (the tile blinkroot will naturally spawn on) to initially farm blinkroot and get more seeds
And a link to blinkroot's wiki page too just in case [terraria.fandom.com]
(P.S. the quality of help on here that I have seen seems sub par and only partially helpful / answering the question)
Blinkroot grow slowest of any plant and sometimes it's actually faster to just find them in the wild with teleport potions or random digging using spelunker potions.
Thanks for answering to the question.
I made a skybridge (not plant pods) and noticed after some time blinkroots started growing there but with big spaces between them. So what you say could be true, I will try it.
Thanks.
This can't be the reason. My potion farm has blinkroot in planters and grow adjacent to each other... Unless the distance requirement only applies when grown in natural soil or clay pots? I'll test this out
