How do I get tissue samples?
Read before replying: I know you can get them from creepers when you summon the Brain of Cthulhu, but I mean, is there any other way? Any reply is appreciated. TY!

p.s.: I created this because I'm tired of getting wrecked by the brain everytime I summon him because my armor is weak, and the reason I want the tissue samples is to craft the crimson armor.

There's no alternative. In theory you could grind forward that armor by just killing creepers and collect their tissues until you're dead. But to get the armor out of it takes ages. So in practise it probably better to adjust your playstyle and your gear, like creating multiple platform layers and spread spike balls all over the place, or changing your weapon/ammo.

I think I'ld go for a bow with Jester's Arrows instead. Or you can try to check out the Jungle. You might find a Boomstick there, and from Jungle Spores you craft get gear which is probably better than your's. Be warned that you must proceed quite methodical there because otherwise you'll constantly die in the Jungle at this point. And as I said, once you've passed your first Goblin Invasion, Spiky Balls can be bought from a new trader, which help a lot.

To add to wcc's advice, you also might want to consider using grenades and molotov cocktails for BoC's first phase due to their area-of-effect damage being useful for taking out the creepers.

Oh, didn't know about that. I got through my first goblin invasion yesterday, and I have like 100 of these spiky balls. Thanks for the answers everyone!

If you're having trouble with the brain use a gold/platinum bow and jester arrows, makes short work of it

I found that Snapthorn is quite good vs Creepers even if you aren't a summoner.
However! Jungle is very dangerous at this stage so you might want to consider sticking to Bow + Jester arrows if you aren't sure about visiting underground jungle. Also if you were lucky to get a Mace, upgrade it to Flaming Mace it's great weapon vs the BoC and his creepers too.

Also keep in mind this boss is weak to knockback.

Just got another problem: I don't seem to find any more Crimson Hearts. I've searched on all the crimson biomes in my world. I've got no idea on how to spawn the boss then, is there any other way?

Yes farm the Crimson enemies for Vertebra and look for vicious mushrooms on Crimson grass surface for crafting vicious powder.

Then you can craft Bloody Spine at the Crimson altar and you can use that to summon the BoC boss

More info here :

Also if you have trouble finding Vicious mushrooms.
You can "extend" the area with crimson grass by placing aditional dirt with grass on it. Crimson grass can spread in preharmode to adjacent grass blocks as long as there are no sunflowers nearby.

The more crimson grass the bigger chances finding vicious mushrooms.
Same rule as with regular forest mushroom farms basically.

No problem

It really depends on what mode your playing on. Your most likely playing on normal mode so I would actually recommend a melee weapon which is long like a spear. I also recommend placing around 4 layers of platforms in the crimson for easier maneuverability.
