Both terraria and minecraft have amazing mods that make the game 10x better
Both games have basic mine and craft things
Terraria has wayyy more enemies and bosses with alot more of the weapons and tools designed for fighting
Minecraft being 3d allows for infinite world generation and it more focused on exploring the infinite world with hidden temples and stuff.
They are amazing games and ive played both minecraft and terraria and i say they are both great.
If you love minecraft but prefer to do more killing and looting enemies that id pick terraria but if youre more geared towards adventure than play minecraft
Great reply. Yes, I didn't mean to suggest that Terraria is a bad game, it is a very good game. But as you said, it's more focused on killing and fighting bosses and that really ain't my thing at all.
As for mods, I had attempted to set up a couple of mods but the instructions were totally unclear, so I gave up. Anyway, I'm more into the whole creative/free build mode and that aspect is a lot stronger in Minecraft than in Terraria.
With the new update coming in terraria 1.4 there will be a creative mode, and there are also item maps that you can download and use any item from the game with your character
We don't know for sure if 1.4 will actually have a creative mode. It is possible but not certain yet.
I spent a couple dozen hours easy on my base alone, and then still adding to it as I go along. The building aspect is there, it just depends how creative you are. Bosses are there for when you want to progress a bit and have a challenge.
I'd say play this if you want content, good gameplay and like the overall aesthetic. You basically spend most of your time doing the same thing in both games, mining, crafting and building.
Edit: this was the easiest game to install mods for, not sure what you're doing.
once i figured it out it was easy enough, yea. The youtube video i mentioned cleared it up.
I just started my second playthrough with mods, compatibility is the only issue, but that's like any game. I had dozens of chests in vanilla, so now this is getting out of hand, running all the extra content related mods. Even ran out of memory so had to install the 64bit version..
But it's not dead. I'll check the forum every day or two since I started and it's constantly being filled with group requests.
