Pirate Invasion impossible?
I'm playing on a normal world, beat the wall of flesh, and pirates invaded my spawn. I only have hellstone stuff. I can't kill any of them. They one shot me immediately after spawning, all my villagers are dead, spawn is a graveyard. Is this supposed to happen? Is this really the easy difficulty or am I doing something wrong?

Like I said I only have the hellstone stuff. molten armor, bow, hell arrows, but I can't kill them, they just own me before I can kill any of them and then run off screen and more come. I've been just dying over and over and this isn't fun anymore.

molten armor is much better for melee. i think the issue might be that ur armor doesn't buff ur weapons.

if u want i can come there and help u. if ur getting spawncamped, u will probably need to get the appropriate items and return to the world, or get someone to come in and help.

So I literally can't do anything unless I start over? That's grand, who made this a thing?

u don't have to start over. u could just mine to the bottom of a small world, grab materials for the terra blade or something (or u could simply opt for necro armor/fossil armor if ur dedicated to range... it'd be easier to get than the terra blade, too.)

Conkercat may have asked about your accessories because accessories can significantly enhance a character, especially in the later game.

If you're unwilling to ignore the pirate invasion and are intent on dealing with it immediately, one thing you can do is try to immediately build a secure box around yourself whenever you respawn. It may take a few tries as the pirates kill you while you're building but, once you've managed to build some safe walls around yourself, you can more calmly think about what to do next. One good thing about the pirate invasion is that most of the enemies cannot go through walls. The one exception is the Pirate's Curse, which spawns from a killed Pirate Captain. As long as you do not kill the Pirate Captain, nothing should be able to kill you through the walls. You have some options, such as calling in other players to help if you're truly desperate, or tunneling around beneath the surface until you can find a better vantage point from which to fight, or you could even attempt to build skyward from your secure box so that you have a higher platform to fight from. You do still need to be careful of enemies that can fire at you when you open up a part of the wall to fight back against them. There are various creative ways you can deal with the invasion. If you're willing to ignore the invasion for a while, you can try tunneling far downward away from spawn and spend some time searching for upgrades such as new accessories that might help you. If you can make your way to some demon or crimson altars, you can use your recently acquired Pwnhammer to smash them and release new ores into your world. With those ores you should be able to craft new gear. You may have to do your crafting away from your spawn point due to the invasion.

What is even that? How am I supposed to know anything about anything with this game? The guide only tells you what you can craft with what you already have, not what to look for next. But taking an external guide would ruin the game. So how am I supposed to know anything?

well, u can use the wiki, but since that's out of the question... trial and error, i suppose? u take him materials u don't know what to do with and be like "hey what can i do with this?" i mean if u would have ever shown him a fossil or a bone u would have seen the ranged armors.

While I admit there could be slightly less vague ways in which to point a player in the right direction in-game, the Guide NPC will generally give you hints as to what you should be pursuing next. It seems very unlucky that you had a pirate invasion so soon after defeating the Wall of Flesh. Of course, I don't know how much time had actually passed after you defeated the Wall of Flesh. If you were loitering around for a long while, it would have eventually happened. Most players have some sort of base or at least a single room set up at spawn point by the time they reach this part of the game, which helps to protect them to some degree during early invasions. I would not consider consulting the wiki to be a complete game-ruiner. But it is, of course, up to each individual player how they wish to play the game.

Well I managed to do like you said, just dig down and make a hole, I ran out of arrows so I had to use the pick to kill them but one dropped a cutlass so I used that and eventually they went away. It was just insanely frustrating that I was not only entirely helpless, but they don't go away. Everyone is dead, there's nothing here, but they keep coming forever. You'd think they'd lose interest in pillaging a ghost town? A literal graveyard? bleh. Yeah I agree it's a bit obfuscated the way the Guide works and when he dies you're SOL until he comes back. Guess I will just have to look at the wiki to see what to do next.

I agree that the Pirate Invasion and even more the HM Goblin Army should be delayed a bit more resp. should have more conditions than just "Altar has been destroyed" (Pirates) or none (for the Goblins), because it really can ruin you day if you don't know what's coming (Pirate Invasion) or had no time to gear up (Goblin Army).

Terraria is the kind of game that you "need" to search stuff or talk/ask to a friend, cause the game barelly tells you stuff. But the more you play it the more you'll know (like with everything...).
When I first got to hardmode i was playing with 3 friends, 2 were new like me and the other one knew a lot of stuff. On the first and second nights of hardmode Destroyer came and farmed us. It was pretty funny but also frustating.
Cause it's your first time playing you can't do much about it, when this stuff happens (events) to me and I'm solo I use a stronger character and after it's done I go back to playing normally. I think you can avoid pirates and goblins by exiting the world before the evasion starts, but I'm not sure.

But yeah, if you have some friends that plays Terraria you could ask them for some advice/hints/guidance, like "hey, can you tell me some cool stuff to do? I'm playing ranged and I've done *these things* "

i love how you imply you can get terrablade by casually mining to the bottom of the world pre-mech LOL
