No, they don't open nor break doors. Zombies cannot do so unless its a Blood Moon, which is a nocturnal event where some even more powerful mobs spawn. If you ever get the notification a goblin army is approaching, the goblins can open and even break the doors. But about zombies, they can't unless a BM is happening.

Zombies and Goblins won't break through this door. ... Goblins will still be able to break it down though. However, if the door is suspended 2 or more blocks, even they won't be able to break it down.

A related silly AI exploit: if you put an extra block above their head height they'll keep jumping into it instead of being able to reach the roof.

Zombies can open doors during blood moons. Some other enemies can open doors at all times.

You can prevent any door from being opened by enemies by placing a furniture item (E.G. a char or a workbench) directly adjacent to the door on the inside of the building. This prevents the door from opening inwards, and since enemies can't open doors outwards it prevents them from opening the door at all (though one specific event enemy can still break them down)
thanks for the feedback yall

There's also various enemies who can go through outright blocks or have projectiles that do the same. Presumably doors won't stop them either.
