Onyx Blaster help

Why does the wiki say that I should ditch the Snyx Blaster when I'm at pre Golem and it still cleans house every time. I'm trying to switch to magic class but neither the unholy trident or the Shadowbeem Staff are better than my blaster. Am I missing something?

I'm not that experienced in class and usefulness of certain weapons, but you shouldn't relay on wiki too much, just try out what it suggests and if it does't work for you just try different weapons, combine them with different armors and trinkets and decide whats the best for you.

If you're going pure magic class then that's a reason to lose it, also if you're pre Golem you have access to the Leaf Blower and possibly Razorpine if you don't mind suffering in an attempt to get it.

yes but why is it better despite having lower stats. Will the magic weapons get better if i get the spectral armor?

spectral armour gives more magic attack damage and comes with some nifty set bonuses like life steal or even more damage, its really worth the upgrade if you're good at dodging

Raw damage doesn't always mean it's better, need to account for damage per second. Spectre armor would also help a lot for sure.

Also just noticed that the Leaf Blower has double the base damage of the Onyx Blaster so there you go.

Just made the spectral armour and id did nothing the magic weapons are imposible to aim and still don't surpass the onyx blaster, why is this happening?

What weapon are you using? Leaf Blower and Razorpine are easy to aim within 15 tiles or so. Also are you using hood or mask?

I'm using the mask, my weapons are the unholy trident and the Shadowbeam staff, but I do have accsess to the spectre staff, meteor staff and rainbow rod.

Use the Leaf Blower, it's one of the strongest magic weapons you have access to as pre Golem, that or try and farm for Razorpine off of the Frost Moon while the former drops from Plantera. Also would recommend farming for a Hallow Key so you can get the Rainbow Gun.

I allredy have the rainbow gun, is it better than what I have now?

Yes it's better than the staves you mentioned, and if you don't mind going through the trouble of doing so, farm the Frost Moon for Razorpine using the Rainbow Gun since it'd be a massive upgrade.

ok thanks, but around what time does the rainbow gun become obsolete?

Wiki says it's useful up through the Pillars due to infinite piercing.
