Why Terraria deserves the Labor of Love Award, and not Among Us

Introduction

Chances are, this post won't change anything. But I still want to give my thoughts on the 2020 Labor of Love Award, and why it deserves to go to Terraria and not Among Us.

Why Terraria deserves it

For several years, the Terraria team has brought updates and content to the game for free, and they have done it on several platforms. While Re-Logic doesn't have many games, they put their heart and soul into Terraria. They have never released a single paid DLC, and the game has kept improving for nearly a decade. Even if a game updates for free, it almost always has some ingame currency or DLC to buy. But not Terraria. They only ever charged us once, for the incredibly low price of 10.00 USD. Ihave put much more playtime into a $10.00 indie game than I would ever put into a mainstream console game.

Why Among Us doesn't deserve it

Among Us has been out for only two short years, and hasn't had nearly enough development to be nominated for this award. Just to be clear, I very much enjoy Among Us, but it's still in its development stages. If you only ever heard about Among Us after it exploded, you might not know that MIRA HQ and POLUS were originally paid maps. For many of the pets and cosmetics, you need to pay. Plus, Innersloth is only now addressing issues such as toxicity, saltiness, and hacking. It was clear from the Switch port including an unreleased map that they didn't put very much time into porting it. Again, I'm not saying that Among Us is bad, but it certainly doesn't deserve the Labor of Love award.

Why this post doesn't matter

If you're a part of the Terraria community, you likely voted for it, and this post likely won't change anything. The half hour I spent on this won't matter in the long term. But please, vote Terraria for the Labor of Love Award. They deserve it. Most of the games that were nominated do. Among Us is likely going to win, and that is your decision to make. My post is very much irrelevant. I encourage you to help spread the word, and help Terraria get the recognition it deserves. And if I convince even one person to vote for Terraria, I will be satisfied with my "work".

Even without 1.4, the game still has thousands of hours of effort put into it.

Even without 1.4, the game still has thousands of hours of effort put into it.

why does that matter?
1.4 is the most relavent thing when deciding what to vote for and 1.4 is a huge let-down of an update.

1.4 was an incredible update, not everything was perfect but overall it vastly improved the game even compared to before. Very few games have an update lifespan nearly as long as Terraria so yes, it definitely deserves to win.

Yea don't get your hopes up of anything other than Among Us getting that award.
Again last time GTA 5 won over other more suitable candidates.
