How do you get the ocean pylon in pre-hardmode?

I've been trying to get an ocean pylon set up for the longest time, but I just can't get the NPCs happy enough to sell a pylon, no matter what combination of people I use they just don't work, and it's starting to seem like I won't be able to get one without the pirate. Right now I have a combination of the stylist, the golfer and the painter, but that doesn't seem to get the job done

Angler doesn't sell anything so you can't get pylon from him.
And no one who likes Ocean likes the Angler too except Pirate but he's hardmode.

What OP needs is to put Dye Trader and Stylist in Ocean and NO ONE ELSE in the area.
Then Stylist will start selling it as she loves Dye Trader and likes Ocean + spacious bonus from only 2 npcs living there.

EDIT: This combination still works even after 1.4.1 happiness changes.

Nurse and Arms dealer also Works they both love each other. if two Npcs love each other they can sell loads of different pylons except if the selling npc hates/dislikes the biome.

Wdym angler dosen't work its obvious that a fisherman will love living at the ocean. Npc dosen't need to have a shop for him to count as an pylon npc, guide dosen't have a shop but he counts twoards forest and mushroom pylon.

You CANNOT buy Pylon from NPC that doesn't have a shop regardless how happy they are.
OP wants to GET the pylon not make it work.

(Which isn't even restricted to happiness to make the pylons work any NPC counts towards pylon activation regardless of biome even just town pets work)

Actually forget what i said about it not working i did some testing out of curiosity and these combinations work now.

The catch is ther must not be any other 3rd NPC living within 120 tiles of them regardless if they like that npc or not.

So yea OP take your pick :

Angler + Golfer (obviously buy from golfer)
or
Dye Trader + Stylist (buy from stylist)
or
Nurse + Arms Dealer (obviously buy from the dealer)

It doesn't matter i was wrong anyways the combination that previously failed to work for me to obtain pylons now work fine.

Angler + Hair Stylist. They both love the ocean and the Stylist can sell it to you!

Stylist only likes the Ocean not "loves". So its not enough for the pylon.
That i know 100% for sure that this combination doesn't work anymore for obtaining the pylon.

Party Girl + Stylist + Zoologist should work for all pylons, except for the Cavern Pylon. If you want to buy the Mushroom pylon from her make an artificial shroom biome above ground first.

Buy Pets from Zoologist, they count towards NPC numbers needed for Party Girl.

I got the pylon working now btw, I temporarily moved the stylist out and swapped the painter for the angler abd that made the golfer happy enough to give me the pylon, thanks guys!
