How tall do herbs grow?
I'm planning an herb farm but I have no idea how much room the herb need. I couldn't find anything on the wiki about it.

How many tiles do I need for my herbs to grow to full size?

For another heads up, one I am constantly forgetting myself whenever I get back to the game.

Planter boxes don't auto grow specific herbs. Things like the blinkroot planter box or fireblossom planter box are just named that way for visual cosmetic reasons.

Planter boxes are still super useful for herb gardening though. They work like wood platforms except you can plant seeds in them.

... and they don't get destroyed by lava, rendering them a good alternative at places where Lava Slimes are a threat.

Tho planting on natural tiles instead planter boxes is more beneficial if you have Staff of Regrowth.

Since with it you can gather both seeds and herbs at mature phase without having to wait for herbs to fully bloom.

But it doesn't work on planter box herbs for some reason. On those you still have to wait for bloom phase.

Interesting idea, at least for Deathweed and Waterleaf. For the other herbs I'ld go with pots I guess, since it needs less space and manoveuring is easier.

How come it needs less space?

I thought planter took the same amount of space, just that you can't pass through it.

I'd be curious how pots would take less space too, because you can't just put pots hanging in mid air on nothing like platforms right? pots need a surface to be placed on top of.

So for example, with planter boxes you can have.

empty space.
planters

repeat.

and pots you need-

empty space.
pot.
surface.

repeat. And even though you can put pots onto a wooden platform, that is more space. taken up to have the platform.
