That damned pirate ship

I have had 5 pirate invasions in total, and not once did the Flying Dutchman appear. I know that the wiki states that it can appear multiple times, or none at all, but am I having just extremely back luck here or am I doing something wrong? Any imput is greatly appreciated

You just have to get lucky. The Flying Dutchman only spawns when the pirate invasion is 50% completed and when there's enough space.

It's entirely random, 3-4 could spawn or none could. If you want to farm the rare drops like the Lucky Coin/Coin Gun, you can actually build a few blocks around the outside of the ship (basically entrapping it), and pour magma beneath to kill off the pirates it drops. I done this in a multiplayer server and left my computer running overnight to get the Lucky Coin. Make sure you're high enough that Wraiths can't reach you.
