1% crimson-- Where?
After long and hard work, I've finally managed to completely purify my world. Well, almost. I think I've taken out all of the naturally-occuring Hallow, but I still have 1% from a few isolated farming spots I've created, and likewise I have 1% corruption (imported) from similarly-isolated farms.

But I also have 1% crimson (what my world started with), but I can't for the life of me figure out where. I'm certain that it's not any place that can spread, since I've run for a long time now with no new blotches appearing. I thought for a while that it might be off beyond the edge of the world (I had some trouble with my right edge for a long time), but I think I've found all of that now, too. I can't use most world editors because I'm on a Mac, but I eventually opened up my world file in TerraMap Online, searched for crimstone, and couldn't find any... nor crimson grass, nor crimsand, nor hardened crimsand, nor crimsandstone, nor red ice. And yet, my dryad persists in telling me that my world is still 1% crimson.

My world file is at https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxSy7-8wZcmIelBYVjFRZjMyQnM . Can anyone see where the crimson is that I'm missing?

did it ever spread over to your beaches? it sometimes can spread outside the bounds of the world, there are still blocks past the end of the world
My only guesses are underground or under the ocean
Check Floating Islands, but you've probably done that already...

Also yes, the edge of the map does bug - the sides in particular.
It's likely underground somewhere, because every time you break an altar with a hammer, along with spawning hardmode ores, it will also spawn a random chunk of crimson or hallowed.

According to the world file, I wasn't able to locate any crimson, so it's either very small, or it's glitched.
Yeah, I know about the tiles beyond the edge of the map-- I already mentioned that I had checked those in a world editor. And I should have mentioned, but forgot, that I haven't actually smashed any altars in this world, for precisely that reason. If it weren't for what the world editor is telling me, I'd assume it was just an isolated little patch of crimstone somewhere in the dirt layer (so there's nothing it can spread to): The last few spots I cleansed were like that. But that's why I checked an editor, and nada.
I had a similar problem with my world for a while and I always thought that "natural" hallow/crimson/corruption walls count as "impure". But after checking your world with TerraMap I guessed that there might be a different issue so I downloaded TEdit to dig deeper into this.

I'm not surprised that the crimson was impossible to locate because the program's analysis showed that there's one(!) Crimstone Block, Crimsand Block and Crimson Grass Block each. I changed them into "pure" blocks and although half of the tree at world selection is still red, the dryad will tell that the world's 1% hallow and 1% corrupt.

The updated world file is here[s000.tinyupload.com]. (Make a backup of the current one just in case.)

It was worth it because I busted my own assumption about the natural impure walls. =)
Thanks, I'll try that. Did the program say where those three blocks were? All together, or in three different spots?
Unfortunately I couldn't check it as I'm not familiar with TEdit but both versions are imaginable.
I know you guys got an answer... but... you also can't have any crimson blocks in chests or your inventory, I believe. Try that.

Why was this guy banned?

He has a VAC ban, Probably why.

Anyway That's off topic

Crimson Altars, Crimson hearts, and Blocks off the map ALL COUNT as Crimson blocks.

Also get rid of those (Danger it will spawn some crimson altars/hearts)
Also be on the lookout for Any tiny 1 block Crimson spots you Might have missed.
While I obviously haven't checked it myself, I've seen plenty of other discussions along this line where people have had completely pure worlds without smashing all of the hearts and altars, and with contaminated blocks in chests. So I'm pretty sure that neither of those actually counts.
Since its beyond the edge of the world chances are it's not gonna spread anytime soon.
If it ain't broken, don't fix it.
I downloaded the world and used TEdit to erase anything that wasn't a Crimson Grass Block and nothing was left. I give up.
I assume that that means that, by "crimson grass block", TEdit means the weeds that grow out of the dirt, not a dirt block that has crimson grass growing in it (this is also suggested by the fact that it found exactly one crimson grass block, not more). So your edit removed the dirt blocks, and then the crimson grass didn't have anything to grow on, so it was destroyed too.

And I long ago got to the point where nothing is spreading. That's not the point. I want the dryad to say that the world is completely pure.
