Calamity and Thorium Pre-Hardmode Melee Build?Expert Mode

What are the weapons and accessories i should get/go after as a pre hardmode build for a melee/tank class before i hit hardmode

not asking for only modded items,if there are some hella good vanila items that will be of use to me,be sure to state that too

Gelitic Blade
Ball O' Fugu

These are the only two melee weapons you really need although the Bellerose and Star Trail (both from Thorium) also get the job done. The Star Trail in particular has respectable homing traits for its projectile.

As far as accessories go, Champions Wings (Thorium), Bloody Worm Tooth (Calamity), Counter Scarf (Calamity), The Ring (Thorium) and the Laudanum and Stress Pills (Calamity) all serve a purpose pre-hardmode. If we count vanilla items, the Frostspark Boots are always a good option.

If you can make the Gelitic Blade you can make Statigel Armour, which seems to be superior from most standpoints.
