In particular, a couple wooden beams with platforms between them is a way to make larger more fake bookshelves.
While less impressive of a large structure, notice the closer detail of the central library in said photo for example of oversize bookshelf back grounding using beams and platforms.

Its just my opinion that mages as studious scholars that they are, would have more than just a single bookshelf or two. A mage tower should be crammed with books.
