Digging Molecart isnt working

I got PIcksaw + 1000+ minecart tracks, im underground and nothing happens

Start with one track laid already, then get on the molecart, then move left or right.

For whomever finds this via google in the future; The solution to my problem was that I wasnt far enough below ground - when equpping the cell phone, I was still too near surface, even though I was perhaps 100 blocks below surface, it was still considered surface level.. you have to be where it says underground or whatever, on the cell phone. From there on it worked without any issues. So get a cell phone or at least a depth meter!

Check if you're not missing minecart tracks!
It also budges if there's soil in front of it.

For those still not getting it, here's the issue: It's not a mount, you have to equip it.
