Dont put any doors leading to outside in rooms where npcs are (unless its a trap door NPCs and enemies cant open those)
Use peace candle and have at least 3 npcs (pets count too) to greatly reduce spawn rate of hostile creatures. Throw in a sunflower there too for stronger effect.
If you have access to echo blocks and care about your house look. Make actuated barriers out of those and toggle then on/off when needed.
They are invisible so you can go nuts with them and safeproof entire house for NPCs so they dont drown themselves in nearby pond or open doors for everything to come inside.
They can spawn on any jungle grass block if there isnt any player placed background walls behind them. They can even sprout from planters.
So beware they can reach into your house from nearby grass or planters.
Reducing creature spawn rates will ensure they will almost never spawn.
Not sure exactlty but they can stretch pretty far and yea i havent seen them spawn on raw mud or anything other than jungle grass or plantrers , that seems to be their anchor point.
