Help beating the destroyer

I can't defeat him. I've tried a lot of time. I have a mithril armor, demon wings, obsidian shield, mana flower and frostspark boots, i built a big arena with heart lamps, campfires and heart statues, my strongest weapons are Hel-Fire yoyo, Spirit Lamp, Meteor staff and Onix Blaster with normal bullets (i also have Medusa's head but i don't use it). I don't know what i'm doing wrong, perhaps i'm bad at dodging. Please help me

Make the best armor available for now (either adamantite or titanium), get yourself a star veil and also a lot of buffs. Try to always get either warding/menancing modifiers for your acessories and a good piercing weapon.

I'd like to beat it alone, there's no satisfaction if i don't do it with my hands, but yeah i can add you to play in the future;

I don't have much titanium and i cannot find many mimics to craft the star veil, but maybe i'll be able to do it soon since they spawn in the arena;

Thank you for the suggestion, i go farming some souls to create key of light and key of night so i can spawn a hallowed mimic

An accessory you NEED for this is the Star Veil. It's made from combining the Star Cloak and Cross Necklace (both drop from mimics) at a Tinkerer's Workshop. It A) drops stars whenever you take damage, and more importantly B) doubles the time of invinvibility when you take damage. (0.67 seconds to 1.33 seconds)

There are two main choices for weapons that people use against the Destroyer:

1. The Fetid Baghnakhs. (I always need to go to the wiki to spell it.) It's technically a broadsword-type weapon, but it swings super fast in a close range. The thing is, you have to have a lot of damage protection things, so that you can be close to the Destroyer's body and deal a ton of damage to it. Other swords would work; I've seen people do it with a Palladium Sword. (Note: This item comes from Crimson Mimics, so you need a Crimson world.)
   
2. The Daedalus Stormbow is another option if you don't want to be as close to the Destroyer. It's a bow, but instead of shooting arrow(s) from the character, it rains ~3-4 arrows down from the sky (above the top of the screen). For this to be really effective, you need to use Holy Arrows. (Made from Wooden Arrows, Unicorn Horns and Pixie Dust.) Each arrow that hits the Destroyer will shoot two more stars from the sky (like from the Starfury or Star Cloak/Veil) and hit the Destroyer. It doesn't matter that the bow is not too accurate, because the Destroyer will probably take up a lot of space horizontally. (Note: This bow is a drop from Hallowed Mimics, so you can get it in any type of world.

Another strategy that is effective is making a long platform waaaaaay up high in the sky so that when the Destroyer "jumps" at you, it can't reach you with its body. Then, you can use the Daedalus Stormbow as described above, but I've also heard that you could kill the Destroyer by using this technique along with just a Nimbus Rod (preferably demonic).

Btw, is this in a normal mode or expert mode world?

destroyer can travel past space edge... the high platform has no advantage at all.

Have you even played terraria
I always pop destroyer with a daedalus stormbow and no special accessories or anything but just some platforms, on expert mode

I defeated the Destroyer (with the help of the nurse near the arena) without even using the Star Veil. It was the Daedalus Stormbow, it really saved my ass. Thanks to everyone for helping me :D
