Can't host server
I've tried looking all over the internet for a fix to this but no one seems to have my exact issue, so I'll just make a post here.

Ever since I first got this game a year ago, I was always able to just go to host and play and start up a world lickity split; no issues, everyone could join, and I didn't need to do anything like port forwarding or some other thing like that.

But all of a sudden it now gets stuck on "starting server" when I try to host a game, and never progresses beyond that point. I've tried starting the world via the batch files, but whenever I get in game and try to join via IP, it gets stuck on "connecting to server" and I can't ever join. From what I know, nothing has changed between when it used to work and now. It seems to be a connection issue, but no other multiplayer game I have is having any connection issues, which either means that it's a specific Terraria issue or it's something else entirely.

Most people I've seen have recommended port forwarding in somewhat similar situations, but I've never needed to do that before and it doesn't seem like it will help in this case very much, if at all. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix it or what the issue might be? Thanks.

Easy solution, delete the game and resinstall (All chars and worlds will be saved)

I should have mentioned this in the base post, but I have indeed tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, as well as restarting my computer. Neither worked.

Seems like a harware configuration issue. Are you able to host in other games?

I don't know if I can, and I need to find a game real quick to start up and host. I guess I'll try 7 Days to Die, and let you know if it works.

Alright, I was able to at least start up a server and get in game, HOWEVER, it did give me a strange error message in the console that I've never seen before. It said something like:

"Socket Exception: An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by it's access permissions."

I was not able to figure out if this actually would've affected people's ability to join, since no one in my friends list are accessible at the moment, or if this was just a freak one time error that won't happen again, but maybe you know how it could affected other games like Terraria. I'll try and recheck my firewall permissions again, but that's all I can think of doing right now.

Okay, my firewall says all games are allowed, so I don't know what the issue is. All I can think of at this point is that it's a hardware issue like you said, but I have no idea where I would start to fix that or what the issue might even be.

Bump I guess, still have no idea what the issue is and don't even know where to start.
