Clarification of the "Rookie" Term

Many of us have seen it; some seemingly egotistical hardcore player calling someone a "rookie", seemingly only because they play on softcore. What do they really mean by this, however?

From what I understand, they use "rookie" to mean "someone who has a low degree of skill, but thinks themselves as godly". For example, someone who claims to be the best ever but has only beaten the lowest available difficulty. So, someone who's only played softcore but fully recognizes that the hardcore players tend to be better is not a rookie. They're not making fun of skill by using this term, rather they're making fun of the attitude these "rookies" have.

Do tell me if I'm wrong, users who call people rookies.

Nothing really went down. Just a bunch of narcissistic hardcore tryhards patting themselves on the back while working on a grading system for the rest of us. Nothing to worry about

i cant even imagine why people would legimitely play a game with infinite lives where they cant lose.. and spend hundreds of hours playing a difficulty where you can mash your face on a keyboard and win, eventually.
