The thing about the slime staff is that nobody actaully wants it, and normally dont even get it on purpose

It can be good to have if your character is a Summoner, though. That is all you get in the beginning.

Coin gun, eh? It has these chanses:
1/8000 chance from pirates;
1/2000 chance from capitans;
1/200 chance from Dutchman.
Slime staff:
1/10000 chance from almost all slimes
1/8000 chance from desert slimes
1/100 pinky (which spawns, like, never).

So, Slime Staff is much, much more rare than coin gun.

Its all luck, some people have it for some things, some people don't. I have 1000hrs. Guess how many slime staff's have dropped for me.....

Well, from that point of view, maybe. And slimes are available before hardmode, yes. And there is no pirate statues. But from math point of view, slime staff is more rare =\ Also you can spawn millions of pirates easy if summoned on ocean biome, so they become even more abundant than slimes. But need hardmode for this, yes.
