What is the rarest item in the game?

I know that the nymph banner used to be considered the rarest item, but is the terragrim the rarest item now, because they made the enchanted sword shrines exponentially rarer than they used to be? or what is the rarest if not those 2

I have a Nymph Banner with 64 kills on them, but for Tim (14 kills) and Doctor bone (1 kill, but no farm yet) I will not get them soon.
Of the Cartons of Milk I also have multiple.

How about 0x33's Aviators? If getting them legit they might be hard to get.

What about that Marrow bow? I have no idea what the exact rarity is but i never seem to get it in any of my playthroughs.

Definitely more common than RoD. I got one today.

That's funny cause her spawn rate is drastically decrased in Hardmode.
I have no idea how you managed to get 89 nymphs from farming mimics unless you did it for several weeks straight

I call BS on that one.

EDIT: And Trees is a bad example as you can set up as many trees as you like in one huge row and shake them for better chance of obtaining the glider.

While as with Nymphs you cannot farm them so consistently.
So a 100% chance drop that drops from a extremely rare mobs after 50 kills only can be more rare than farming common spawning mob for low % chance drop.

You can only shake up to 200 trees a day. They will be chopped down eventually, so you have to replant and wait for them. The odds of getting one without leafs is also not uncommon.
Lost girls spawn pretty frequently. I got them by having a huge ass arena across the entire map in caverns, riding a minecart.

-200 trees in one row is A LOT
-Trees have passive "hp regen" and they regenerate the damage rather quickly if using low power Axe. The damage done to a tree doesn't stay pernamently they "repair" themselves when you stop chopping.
-And you can skip a day by sleeping

And again as i said i don't believe you about "Nymphs" spawning frequently.
Not in Hardmode not to the point where you would get 89 Nymph kills from mimic farming cause that sounds unreal unless you've been farming same spot for several weeks or more.

I do like to point out that i often get Lifeform Analizer rather rearly.
Even with it i see it pick up a Lost Girl once in a Blue Moon.

But i will try your setup.

You can check it for yourself. You create a huge Cavern arena fitted with Anything that increases spawn rates and maximize luck. Then ride across the map and kill any Lost girls/Mimics.

Ok, did not know that. Then they are really not that rare, or hard to get, or atleast they can be obtained faster than some banners.

Got one, and have seen some more, although some critters especially golden ones are quite rare for sure.

Slime statues were not nerfed. They still drop the staff. I have 4 in a box for gel farm. I stood there flailing for 15 minutes, got 5000 blue slimes killed, 2 staffs.
You cannot lava trap them anymore. But drops are the same.
Play Master mode, noone blocks you from that. Get your character, beat WoF and then make a simple pirate arena. Trap ships and kill them.

Well I have not farmed them that much. But it is not rare per se, just takes time. Fishing them up is easy. I farmed for the Blood Rain Bow and got Mermen every 2-5 bites.
