nah the worlds from may 20 above are equal if i use the seed over and over again

there was an update after terraria 1.4 where they were testing the system to copy seeds, after that update every seed used at the launch 1.4 changed as well .
so it's not completely random even for same seed LOL , and that i have 100% certain because i tested before making this post x')

The seed i used in my server was before the update where they finalize the test of "copy seed" system so yeah x'p

A seed is not containing the entire information of a world. Same seeds do not make exact same worlds.

when i mean seed i mean the exact same map i didn't test if chests for example have the same loot

Pretty sure it does.

After i done some testing
The geometry and biome placement aswell as chest and item placement is exact carbon copy of same seeds if all the parameters match including same evil and difficulty settings.

If any of the secondary settings of said seed gets changed but seed is still the same, the geometry, biomes and item placement comes out completely different.

You cannot create the same map twice without simply copying the file and renaming it. Entering the same see will not give you the same map. Never did.

How do you even get that x'D

dude i tested this morning it does and its confirmed by the devs itself or else how you would be able to get cuthulu legs from the seed that dev shared x'D

and like alucard said and well , the definitions must be exactly the same for the corruption size and difficulty of the world otherwise you get a diferent map

if you change any of these with the seed you copied you will get a diferent map otherwise you get the same exact one

I mean people do share seeds with specific items in specific areas. Or apecific anomalies in specific areas (like demon altar in crimson world)

And locations are exactly the same. Idk how that would be even possible if it was random regardless of same seed lol

EDIT: Worked like that pre 1.4 aswell , people woud give seeds with exact location of things like sword shrine with Arkhalis in it instead Enchanted Sword, Water Bolt in Dungeon entrance etc

The reason why seeds from before 1.4 give random results now in 1.4 is most likely due to the rework of Worldgen they did.

yup exactly, but the point of this post was just to know if they changed again, for what i understand after reading the patch notes looks like it especialy after trying using the seed on my server it changed completely the other 3 worlds i have after the update of may 20 stood the same

From "recent" changes. All i know is that they added another secret seed in 1.4.0.3 that wasn't in the game yet.
The "For the worthy" one.

As far as worldgen changes go.

Okay, I framed my comment poorly.
Normal seeds are the same. But special aren't.
The legs appear randomly in any chest if a specific seed is used.
Special seeds will not give you the same map everytime. Create 10 maps with "not the bees" or "for the worthy" and they all will be different despite having the same worded seed.
So if your world a normal world with a randomly generated seed you copy over, or is it a special seed.
