The toxikarp. My least favorite fish in the game

So i have been struggling to get the Toxikarp. I am Fishing the underground corruption. Just where you fight The eater of worlds. However, I have been fishing for two days and nothing. I have got everything from tin cans to titanium crates. So am i missing something? am I supposed to fish on the direct surface? Or do i keep fishing? I am using over 100 fishing power. So i dont think thats the issue. Thank you if you can help!

If you're getting Tin cans then the water or your fishing power isn't enough.

The drop chance depends on the fishing power. 100 equals about 2%. Increase fishing power and change the biome to a pure corruption to rule out any underground drops.
Also as said, your actual fishing power is below 50 and your pond is too small if you catch any junk. Which means the odds of a Karp are below 1%.

No. It is around 2% if your fishing power is actually 100. Not just shown as 100. You can have 100 with gear, pole and bait, but the pond size and time of day reduce it.
If you have the Gold Rod, it is possible to have 220 fishing power if fishing at the right time of the day with the right weather. That would give you around 5% for the weapon.
