corruption spread out of nowhere
I keep getting corruption out of nowhere and its spreading like crazy (after all bosses). What can i do about it besides the usual clentaminator use?

Altars give you blocks of evil biomes when you smash them.

No, you can only bomb/mine it off or clentaminate completely.

Well then something is wrong because i am not smashing altars and it keeps coming back in random spots.

If you are in Hardmode then Corruption/Crimson can spread to blocks upto 3 blocks away. If you want to stop the spread you need to isolate biomes and ideally purify them with the Clentaminator

If it keeps comming back then you didn't cleanse the whole thing.

Only takes 1 block to start the spreading.

Lost my ocean for a bit. Used Clentaminator to clean it up and went on to other things. Later, the ocean pylon is offline and the NPCs are back living near the spawn point. Clean the ocean again. This time going slower and being more precise with the green solutions. Things go back to normal and look good on the map.

Third time ended up digging in to the blocks and found the source, rooting it out. Was a few blocks that were just outside the reach of the Clentaminator from all directions.

Tunnel around and through making grids out the important parts of the map. That way, it can only spread so far. Normally done in pre-hard.

I guess that's the case then i'm probably missing one block but now i've proofed one section with bricks and will see if it spreads again (which it shouldn't)

Bricks won't help unless the width to the next corruptable block is more than 3 away.

Putting things in the way only works prehardmode and not in hardmode where it spreads beyond adjacent blocks.

Are they spreading in places with stone walls? I've seen that cause some funny problems in multiplayer.

also with the corruption you have to keep an eye out for the new flying monsters whose ranged attack will start a small pocket of corruption wherever they hit. Lost one of my floating islands to them and had to insulate the ground to prevent stray shots from connecting with it.

This was changed back in 1.2. So no longer the case.

If you want to avoid the tedious time consuming search and cleaning of corrupted/crimson blocks, there's also journey mode (with difficulty slider), which lets you disable evil biome spread. Gives the same loot just like expert mode, minus the spreading. Incase you get tired of doing this every single playthrough. :lunar2019piginablanket:

Ok so i blocked off a whole area with 4 blocks distance to any corruption ( there is not any corruption nearby) and i used the clentamintor on very very throughoutly and it still got corrupted.

So stay around that area and see where it comes from. It's usually easy to spot.
