Can any one help with the torch god thing

I cant get the item to drop i did the thing and no item made a new world no item made a new char no item i dont know what to do.

you have to beat the torch god first

the torch god is just an event, and to beat it you have to be underground, place at least 100 torches of any kind within a certain area, and then just survive until all 100 have shot bolts at you.

After you do it once successfully and have consumed the item, it cannot be done again on the same character.

Just go to the underground level and place 100 torches in a narrow cave.

I have beat the boss have not consumed the item (it will not drop) and so i can do it on the same char.

the wiki says you also have to be at least 200 blocks below the surface, maybe thats the issue?

I've heard that it might start before reaching 100 too

Are you staying right next to the torches the whole time or do you run away a little to take cover? You have to be close the entire time for the event to be considered completed.
