Build to maximize Fetid Baghnakhs' damage

So lately I've been farming Crimson Mimics and I got all the loot that I can get from it, but this sword got my attention. Is there any build (armor, accesories, etc) that can be used to increase this sword's utility? I tried using it but I keep getting killed because of the short range it has, so a build that's increasing my survivability while using this would be really helpful..
