How to Increase the Limit of Items on the Ground?
https://terraria.gamepedia.com/index.php?title=Items&oldid=143381

As state on wiki there are a limit of 400 items on the ground before starting to disappear to give space to new ones, this is a huge problem because me and my friends are farming Pumpkin Moon and Frost Moon, how do we increase this number? I know we can change a value in a file, but I don't know which file is it, neither the entry name.

I also want to know if it's possible to change that in the server, or just local, because if we die we HAVE TO stop killing or the enemies drop will override our items. Last night my friend lost some items because of it, we didn't know it was this low, so I kept killing and his items was gone because of it.

Pay attention, I'm asking HOW TO INCREASE THE LIMIT OF ITEMS ON THE GROUND, don't say "collect faster" or "make an arena to auto collect" I just want to know how to increase the number of items on the ground, JUST THAT, don't give me your "solutions", that's not what I'm asking.

Question: What do you want to do with more than 400 Pumpkin Moon items?

And to answer your question. It is a hardcoded thing and not changeable.

Thanks.

It's only really an issue for Pumpkin Moon. What you can do is place a bunch of chests in the area where you're going to fight. Then you place one item that can drop during the Pumpkin Moon in each chest (a different item in each chest).

Finally, during the battle, you periodically open your inventory and use the "Stack to Nearby Chests" button. This will clear out your inventory and let you grab even more loot.

There are 21/22/26 different drops in Classic/Expert/Master, excluding the banners. A few of these are "rare" drops (like the trophies and Jack 'O Lantern Mask), so you could get away with just one chest for those combined.

We are doing something like that, the problem with this is that we have, periodically, go down there close to the enemies to get stuff, and possibly die during it. And it's fast, IT'S FAST to reach those 400 items, 400 items on Terraria is almost nothing, it would be great if they properly fix the duplication glitch and allow us to increase the number.

You forgot something in this tactic that is the items that don't stack, like weapons and accessories, they drop a lot of it, A LOT of weapons that repeat themselves. What I'm going to suggest to them, is to go down there fast while enemies are clear and slot everything inside the Money Trough, then hold a lot of items in their inventory, and then store automatically more stuff in the Void Bag.

In fact, saving stuff isn't the issue, the issue is dying while collecting stuff, this will prompt us to stop the killing to make sure we won't override our items, and this is kinda hard because doing that won't allow us to reach Wave 20, at least not the way we are now, since we are doing things "in order" to progress instead of rushing something.

You can still edit the code. Terraria has no anticheat. The change is simple enough that it's still probably doable without knowing C#. Which code do you have to edit?

Pretty sure OP said he does NOT know which code / file to change...

A relatively straightforward solution is to make the Greedy Ring for at least one of you, if not both. The primary culprit for hitting the item limit isn't weapons, unless you're farming on an infinite night journey mode (in that case, why?), but coins. As each silver, copper and gold coin adds +1 to the items on the ground, the hugely increased pickup range of the greedy ring will help you clean the floor faster and from a much safer distance, while also adding some more coins to the loot as well thanks to the lucky coin effect.

EDIT: Heartreach potions also let you pick up loose hearts from a similarly increased distance. I'm not 100% sure if they count towards the item limit but might as well not take those chances if you're dealing with that much loot being generated on the ground.

DOUBLE EDIT: Holy mother off necroposting, how did you even find this thread??

This ♥♥♥♥ just happened again... It was during a Pirate Invasion... A Pirate Invasion dropped items enough to overwrite my gear after I die. 3 years after, the same BS happened, my friends and I stopped playing Mediumcore because of this, because it's unfair to lose the items because every single piece of copper can overwrite your items... Funny enough, HammerWatch II has item persistence, even if you close the game, when you open back the items are on the ground.

Anyways, after 3 years, do we know if it's possible to change the limit of items on the ground? If we do, how do we do it? I have a pretty good knowledge of modding, I already mod a lot of games like 7 Days to Die, DOSIIDE, Starbound, Minecraft... modding isn't an issue, I just need to know if it's possible, and to make things easier, the file that I need to look for the information.

By the way, do you know if it would work on the server or if I would have to do it on server files as well?
