And to answer your question. It is a hardcoded thing and not changeable.
Finally, during the battle, you periodically open your inventory and use the "Stack to Nearby Chests" button. This will clear out your inventory and let you grab even more loot.
There are 21/22/26 different drops in Classic/Expert/Master, excluding the banners. A few of these are "rare" drops (like the trophies and Jack 'O Lantern Mask), so you could get away with just one chest for those combined.
You forgot something in this tactic that is the items that don't stack, like weapons and accessories, they drop a lot of it, A LOT of weapons that repeat themselves. What I'm going to suggest to them, is to go down there fast while enemies are clear and slot everything inside the Money Trough, then hold a lot of items in their inventory, and then store automatically more stuff in the Void Bag.
In fact, saving stuff isn't the issue, the issue is dying while collecting stuff, this will prompt us to stop the killing to make sure we won't override our items, and this is kinda hard because doing that won't allow us to reach Wave 20, at least not the way we are now, since we are doing things "in order" to progress instead of rushing something.
EDIT: Heartreach potions also let you pick up loose hearts from a similarly increased distance. I'm not 100% sure if they count towards the item limit but might as well not take those chances if you're dealing with that much loot being generated on the ground.
DOUBLE EDIT: Holy mother off necroposting, how did you even find this thread??
This ♥♥♥♥ just happened again... It was during a Pirate Invasion... A Pirate Invasion dropped items enough to overwrite my gear after I die. 3 years after, the same BS happened, my friends and I stopped playing Mediumcore because of this, because it's unfair to lose the items because every single piece of copper can overwrite your items... Funny enough, HammerWatch II has item persistence, even if you close the game, when you open back the items are on the ground.
Anyways, after 3 years, do we know if it's possible to change the limit of items on the ground? If we do, how do we do it? I have a pretty good knowledge of modding, I already mod a lot of games like 7 Days to Die, DOSIIDE, Starbound, Minecraft... modding isn't an issue, I just need to know if it's possible, and to make things easier, the file that I need to look for the information.
By the way, do you know if it would work on the server or if I would have to do it on server files as well?
