Ice Skates

could anyone help me out? I'm trying to get ice skates for the boot upgrades, but I can't find any in chests. i've been to 3 worlds so far, exploring the underground snow caves and I cant find any. am I doing something wrong?

Or you can just fish some crates. I got a lot just fishing, that is 100 better that try to find chests. (:

You can fish in the Snow biome for Ice Crates, which may contain it.

[Zemecon]

The ice skates are found in chests further up in the underground layer, apparently. If your snow biome has a Corruption or Crimson cavern system in it then try generating a world with a non-converted snow biome and try checking right above the cavern layer.

A metal detector dropped by nymphs/Lost Girls will come in very handy for this, as will scarab bombs.

Try to farm small worlds with a spulunker potion, I find ice biomes pretty annoying with navigation, therefore I used spulunker potions and it worked.

Terramap is nice for these things. Create a world load it in Terramap, and look for your item...

You have several self-help options:

• Fish for Frozen crates (pre-hardmode) or Boreal crates (hardmode), which have a 1/6 chance to contain ice skates.
  
• Use a map viewer such as TerraMap (TerraFirma hasn't been updated for 1.4 and will refuse to load 1.4 maps) to locate chests containing the item.
  
• Use a map editor (i.e. TEdit) to add the item to a specific chest.
