Edit: my point is that for less experienced player, master mode isn't gonna be rewarding at all, I don't care what I got personally, but for newer players it's just disatisfying.
Edit: I agree on the "But i guess mastermode is just for people looking for a challenge and not for casuals" part though, that's a good point, this is why I played master mode but it ended up being a tedious and boring experience.
Master is appart from very few items just more beefy enemies that hit way harder.
Some parts of the game became really boring due to how hard just regular monsters hit and how tanky they were.
The overall update is fantastic, I love it. But I feel like Master Mode could have been alot more then what we got.
More HP doesn't make it harder, just makes it tedious.
It brings nothing to the table unlike expert where enemies and bosses had different ♥♥♥♥.
I feel like they focused their energy on the golf mini game and journey mode and said ♥♥♥♥ it make master mode which is just expert with more health and damage bosses. New attacks? Nah ♥♥♥♥ that just make them damage players more.
Rewards should be a super badass weapon or gear for tanking? Nah ♥♥♥♥ that too just give em some hats and pets.
NGL the new empress of light sucks too. Unlike other bosses that try to attack you directly she literally does the opposite and runs aways rarely getting close and the attacks are such b.s. too. Imo if they really wanted to make her a bullet hell type boss should've made the player follow her while she shoots at you. A reverse wall of flesh where you have to chase her instead of her keeping her distance from you.
For master mode imo they should've give the bosses and enemies resistances and buffs against certain weapons and armors. In a sense you could've opened up a whole new role for rangers and summoners while not nerfing melee and mages. Would've also given early game items a big buff depending on the type of damage they gave. Basically expert mode same stats and stuff but you inc. Enemy DEFENSE and Damage against certain armors.
But nop. Just give them extra health and damage. They threw rangers under the boss and summoners under 10 buses (seriously a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ whip)?
Also what seed?
Even the name is a spat in the face. Should've renamed it nightmare mode to be more fitting. Master mode makes it sound like you really gotta learn and know enemies when it's just expert lvl knowledge with more tanky and damaging enemies.
MASTER MODE actually fits JOURNEY MODE more since you literally control EVERYTHING in journey mode. Imo it would've been journey mode (normal classic) expert, nightmare (master mode), and master mode (aka journey mode).
Just my input on the names
The health and damage increases are very noticeable, and might change your old tactics against bosses. Unlike in Expert where you could soak attacks, that's not doable in Master.
Additional accessory slot alone probably keeps me permanently locked into Master Mode.
