How can I make the ocean biome bigger?
Basically I am using Tedit to make a giant ocean map with numerous islands scattered about. But a problem I have encountered is that the ocean biome can only exist within 250 blocks of the edge of the map.

This means that when the ocean exceeds that 250 block limit, the biome will become a desert or something else.

I'm trying to find a workaround to this problem. If anyone knows anything, please say something. I'd like to hope Journey's End will have some sort of solution, but I'm guessing the odds are next to none

Terraria biomes are determined by where they are and what blocks are nearby.

The ocean, for instance, only exists in the ~250 blocks near each map edge. After that, you can add more water and sand all you like but the game'll still think it's desert. There's no simple way around this, unfortunately. Nearly all other biomes only care what blocks are nearby, though, so you can make jungles at spawn and ice in the oceans.

Also, tEdit doesn't show the background that'd correspond to that biome, so check in-game if you want to know for sure.

Yeah I just found this out myself after doing a bit of research. I'm trying to see if there's any possible workaround. Surly there has be something right? I'm not giving up my dream just yet

I guess I could make the middle ocean a giant lake. Now I just need to solve that silly ~250 block problem
May 2024. Has there been a solution to the problem? I also hate this puddle of 250 blocks.

The best solution I found was using fountains to change the water colour. That at least fixed the brown desert water problem, but still left the background as a desert. I couldn't figure out any solution for that tho.
But I haven't attempted this since the original post, so maybe some of the new additions from recent updates could be used to find workarounds. Good luck and let me know if you find anything! I still want to create my dream world lol.
