Did you download tModLoader? Asking because I don't know whether you need tModLoader in order to run the Inventory Editor or not.

When you download tModLoader, it creates a second set of folders for your character files and world files. Check your Terraria folder for a folder named "ModLoader" and look in that folder for your character files and world files. Or maybe those files were already transferred and you are looking in the old folders instead.

If you can't find your files anywhere in the Terraria folder, put the names of your characters and worlds in the searchbar in Windows Explorer. If the files show up in the search results, you can then right-click on each file and select "Open File Location." That should take you to wherever your files have been placed so you can transfer them back to their respective folders.

In any case, you should always be making regular backups of your character files and world files, especially before installing any mods, playing a multiplayer game (whether you are hosting or not) or you decide to move your characters and worlds to the Steam Cloud (which is *not* recommended, BTW).

Your Players folder and Worlds folder should be in your Terraria folder. Leave them where they are if they are in there already (or put them in there if they are not) and put all of your character files in your Players folder and all of your world files in the Worlds folder. Then start your game and see if you can access your characters and worlds.

If this issue happens again, tell us in this thread.
