What do you think of NPC Happiness?
I think it's bunk. It's not necessary to do but absolutely for the Pylons.

Wish they did something like there was a happiness meter involving their house itself. Material, space, furniture, etc.

you can make unhappy npcs activate pylons and use gunslinger + nurse to buy most pylons

I just love pylon system. And hapiness force me to build fancy houses all over the world.

I love Pylons for sure. Going into Hardmode the corruption streak wiped out 2 of my areas though. Big sad.

I think It's good, It rewards for building houses in various places around the world. Also, who don't want to have a fast travel access through out the world?

As for material used to build their houses, I think the way It is currently is fine, since wont be like a biome torch for the npcs. And not everybody who plays Terraria cares much about building, so a basic house is still fine.

At first I thought happiness would only increase base prices, but since it can go both ways (you get discounts for happy NPCs) it's really a win win situation IMO

You get cheaper items, early game teleport system, multiple areas with reduced spawn, that's a lot for just building in a bunch different places!

TBH, this would be cool ^, since I like using different furniture, making different buildings, etc, but for those who aren't all that creative, they can still get the benefits of happy NPCs without spending much time, by just building boxes all around the world.

I can live with the system as it is now if it benefits different playstyles :)

It kind of undermines building your own teleporter and minecart rail system if the game just hands out 0 setup teleporters.

This is the one new feature I don't care enough to praise or complain about. I completely forgot it exist actually

Setup is figuring out how to get them to sell them tbh. Which isn't easy on your own with how vague the game is on it..

People already cry and ♥♥♥♥♥ about the fact that devs "force" them to build multiple houses. While I would also love pretty houses affecting it, people will go ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

You can have infinite teleporters. Infinite minecart tracks. Only a limited amount of teleporters set in specific biomes.

For the most part it doesn't matter unless you want to buy something expensive. I mean how often does anyone buy anything ever? And once you have pylons then you don't have to care either. Edit: I guess Tinker happiness matters but thats kinda it.

Not a fan of the happiness system. It think it takes more away from the game than it adds by punishing wooden hotels (even if manageable) and essentially telling you where to put your npc's. Pylons on the other hand are a fantastic addition the game really needed to make building around the world viable (without a streak of wires around the world too). I just wish we had more control over how we divvy up our npc's without being punished or having to refer to the wiki constantly. I understand wanting to make players work for the pylons a bit, but they could simplify the system a bit so it's not quite as tedious/punishing even when trying to follow it. The increased prices and the fact that I can't max everyone linger at the back of my mind while playing regardless of whether money is a problem or not. It's the main thing killing the update for me but at least I can fall back on mods at some point.

Well you don't have to worry about happiness after you get the pylons. At that point all it does is affect prices so it don't matter anymore. Like make the tinker happy and maybe the wizard idk.

Yes. That's it. Yet people rage about, throwing threats and claiming devs force them and ruin the entire game for them.

I like it. It causes you to think about which NPCs to pair together and where. Could it be more elegant and less awkward? Yes, but it works as is. Just takes some getting used to *AND* It does not significantly change the game in a negative way. You can still stuff NPCS in prison and throw away their keys. Or invite them to a nice house then destroy their housing just because. It is all on you, the player. Some of the dislikes don't make a lot of sense per se but eh, not my game. I just play here.
