It is in fact a Master Mode only drop.
But infinite flight at the start of Hardmode is a bit too good. Should be better if it was really slow or only could drop post plantera or something.
With my solution you would get the car keys before the black spot, the car keys also does have better strafing capabilities, but I understand where you are coming from.
For when its obtained and its power I think it is overpowered. The non mount alternative is Wings+Empress Accessory for Infinite flight. But thats 2 slots you can use in Master Mode to get more survivability. While the mount is just sitting cozy in the Mount slot and you can spend those 2 slots on w/e you want. For example this was my first playthrough where I crafted wings but I never ended up using them due to Invasion happened just shortly after and the Mount dropped.
It is far superior to the UFO, Fishron that are obtained at much later stages of the Game. (I dont think anyone goes after Duke at the start of Hardmode on Master :p)
But at the end as an overall experience It didnt really ruin our/my playthrough. Maybe the others in my group should have used wings for better dodging because they kept dying to stuff while in the mount :p
I see! thanks for the interesting perspective of start to finish with it! I have noticed that wings do help me dodge shots better as the vertical climb of the mount is quite slow.
That is an interesting approach to the problem, haven't thought of it like that but absolutely true. I do wish it acted more like skeletron in a sense and having it fly around alot more. That would be epic.
Also how the ♥♥♥♥ did this discussion turn from a talk about a pirate ship mount to how "Minecraft is a better sandbox then Terraria"? smol edit: this last bit is irrelevant already-
Progression wise it does feel quite linear to me. You have the freedom to choose your play style and class and such but the order of events is linear. Yes you can beat duke before mechanical bosses but I don’t know why you wouldn’t do mechanical first. The real question is, is it a bad thing? can’t speak for star bound but Minecraft the order of events is also linear being get wood, go to nether, blaze powder, stronghold, kill dragon. I personally enjoy a linear progression system, especially the server I got going with friends.
But the sandbox part still lives in terraria, more than ever especially with journey mode and all its customizable goodness. All the amazing builds the community makes are a testament to terrarias sandbox potential. Mods also allows it to become a epic sandbox!
