Pre-mechs i guess, i used Forbidden Armor on master as a mage, no arena. There's a lot of projectiles but she's predicatble.
When she started flying it was very obvious what she would do and how she would fly. The movement pattern reminds me of boss mimic, mothron and goblin summoner in some way.
Well that's weird too because I find the Hallowed/Corruption/Crimson mimics quite easy, and the Goblin Summoner and Mothron easy for the most part. So if the Queen Slime is so similar I don't know why I struggled so much.
Anyway, I found a few items in my numerous attempts. Just like with king slime, the smaller slimes only spawn when you damage the boss. What I sometimes did was just kite the boss in the first phase and don't get hit by her projectiles. With a regen potion, campfires and a heart lantern you can just get a lot of health back without even using potions, since the boss is a whole lot easier without the slimes.
That said, using a small arena can be quite tough, as the slimes stick around. I find the crystal slimes (The ones that shoot out volleys of three spikes upward) especially annoying because you keep having to either expertly dodge through the volleys or fly way over them. In small arenas it seems essential to use a weapon with enough reach and firepower to kill the small slimes quickly and not focus the big queen herself all the time. Alternatively, you can fly all over the world during the fight so that the smaller slimes that don't fly stay behind (I would take a water walking potion for this though. Getting stuck in water is nasty). This is somewhat tougher against the second phase, as the boss is probably much faster than you and will get ahead of you, but doable. Trick is then to sometimes move back a bit and wait for an opportunity. Also take care to not let her despawn in her first phase. when doing this. She can be a bit too slow.
I also make sure that I have plenty of light in my arena. Daytime is probably the easiest way of doing this, but if you have a moon charm which can help quite a bit, make sure to use a weapon that gives off plenty of light or light up your world plenty.
For my gear, I used mage wapens mostly. In general I would recommend a melee weapon that can hit lots of things. I used the flower of frost, as shots I missed usually dealt with stray slimes so I wouldn't have to deal with them later. If you want something like this for after Plantera, I would recommend something like the wasp gun (it got buffed, I reckon it will deal with the slimes quite well) or a repeater with Holy arrows. For melee I think the seedler will work quite nicely. And for summoner... It's probably a very tough boss as it's touch to make your minions attack monsters that are quite far away with a whip.
If that doesn't do it for you, I guess I can give you some general advice for bosses. Don't forget your buffs. Especially ironskin, regen and endurance are very nice. The new bast statue that you can get from the underground desert is also great if you want to stay in one place (You can also get it from desert crates in case you're using an old world). I'd also advice to get a food item that gives you excuisitely stuffed or moderately stuffed, the new well fed buffs (I'd check the wiki for that if you don't know what to get).
And then, it's just good ol' practice. You can beat her. I'm sure you'll get there.
