When are you supposed to fight the Queen Slime?
Just a quick question. At what point in progression are you supposed to fight the Queen Slime? Before the mechanical bosses? After the mechanical bosses? After Plantera?

The fact that you can find the Gelatin Crystals as soon as you enter hard mode (and break an altar, I assume) makes me think they're pre mechanical bosses, but the mechanical bosses were really easy, and the Slime Queen was not. I couldn't beat them.

So I dunno.

I think you can take her after Plantera her attack pattern is pretty easy to follow. It's her minions that can overrun you. If you got a flying mount like the black spot or broomstick you can probably whittle her down easily if you've had some health fruit and some buff potions.
The wiki lists it as before mechanical bosses, it is an optional boss fight for some upgrades.

Well, she's kinda difficult thanks to her pattern and phases. But stat wise not as difficult as the mechanicals. I guess.
But anytime you want really. It takes some time to wait for the Light Crystals to grow while getting a random Suspicious Lookin Eye could be much faster

I know the boss is optional, but I was asking at what point in game progression would make the Queen Slime fight a reasonable challenge and not insanely difficult or easy.

You're definitely better off fighting her pre mech bosses.

Do you think that's really all I need? I have everything else except any sort of flying mount.
And thanks!

Okay, well, that's really weird considering all of the mechanical bosses were very easy, at least for me, but the Queen Slime seemed insanely difficult even with my 'just about to fight Plantera' level items.

Think I'm gonna try using the Ankh Shield next time because during the fight I felt like there was nowhere to move because all her minions were in the way. With the Ankh Shield I don't take knockback so I can just walk right through them to escape.

Or I could grapple to something. I keep forgetting about that.

You probably need an arena if you don't have one, I recommend a basic multi layer platform arena at minimum if you don't have one.

I had a single platform above an easy to maneuver in Hallowed Desert biome.
The strategy I came up with during the fight was to just run to the other side of the platform, and shoot as I waited for her to approach, and then when she got close enough I'd drop down through the platform, making her drop down, allowing me to jump back up and run over her safely. It worked until she started flying and I got caught in all her minions and couldn't get out.

Thanks, and I'll be sure to try that next time though.

I just beat queen slime three times in a row in master mode difficulty with titanium armor. The strat I found worked the best after about 6 attempts is to fight the first phase on a platform above a pool of water and just float below the platform with wings grappling to it to stay in flight. The slime she spawns will just float in the water while she jumps or teleports towards you.

The second phase you want to fight her on a long platform high above the ground with some gaps in it to prevent the slimes she spawns from staying on it for long. Do that and all you really have to worry about is the bouncing orbs she spawns and the occasional collision with her body.

She honestly is just a harder version of king slime. Once you understand that, using similar strategies to fight king slime work for pretty much the entire fight. Once I understood the pattern, I think I only really used two healing potions the entire last fight.

This is making me feel so terrible at the game. I literally had turtle armour and I lost.
