I can't make arrows or large bamboo

I can't craft large bamboo nor arrows despite having the right things in my inventory, arrows require two things, stone and any type of wood and I have both and large bamboo is just a bamboo, so why can't I craft them?

I a guessing you know this, but always check the simple things... are you near a work bench for the arrows and a sawmill for the large bamboo?
