Bananarang chances

What are the chances of getting 2 bananarangs to drop off the first clown you kill? Do they always drop in pair? Did the drop rate change or I just got lucky?

I've killed several others and no drops. Did the game kinda hand some over when you hit hardmode or was pure luck?

Not all though, there are some granted loot here and there. I found an article saying it is 3.33% chance, if this is just the case, then it was insane odds. 3.33% inside another 3.33%, for having two drops at the same time.

Bananarangs always drop in groups. The chance of getting 1 is as good as getting 5 at a time.
