(Calamity) Expert skeletron tips

I made another post about this a couple weeks ago got some solid advice but just have no clue what to do at this point. I want to get into the dungeon to get the shadow key so I can open chests in the abyss and the underworld, but just can't beat Skeletron. The head's defense while the hands are there is simply too high, and I can't even kill the hands because they move around so much that using both melee and ranged weaponry I can't hit them. I have an arena with campfires built, buff potions, everything.

I'm kind of balancing a playstyle of both melee and ranged. I have accessories and armor that buff both (ranged aerialite armor and molten or shadow armors for melee), and my primary weapons are the Minishark, Corrupted Crusher Blade, and Old Lord Oathsword. I have meteor shots as my main ammunition for guns and hellfire arrows for bows. Any advice would be very much appreciated because I genuinely have no clue what to do for this fight, and I've beaten every other boss up to the Hive Mind so there really isn't any other way for me to progress.

Minishark aint gonna cut it with skeletrons defence. What you could do is thinking about getting a shark tooth necklace if you need it or getting weapons like the magna striker perhaps the sunken sea shotgun (forgot the name but its crafted from a boom stick). The opal striker is also a pretty good weapon for him or you can try and kill queen bee to get beenades and kill skeletron if it comes to it. An item you probably want is the bundle of balloons because thet may seem obsolete when u have boots but the boost mobility quite a bit.

Side note make sure to have a good arena as that can do wonders.

Are you in revengeance? If it’s just expert, it should be the same as un modded expert skeletron. Fungicide pumpler are nice ranged weapons and you could try the starfury too. Make sure your mobility is high enough to dodge his attacks. Circle around his head to easily dodge the skulls. If you’re in revengeance, watch out for when he teleports.

Use a hook to get out of spinlock

no one has said anything about magic or rogue weapons so i will: Magna Cannon, Dune Hopper(drops from desert scourge rarely) or if you've got enough time to farm weaker abyss enemies(and i do NOT recommend doing this- trust me, this is a last resort) farm for halibut cannon. that mfer will cut through in bout two seconds. As i said, i do NOT reccomend doing this because the Halibut cannon is OP as hell so if you're gonna do that you probably won't get as much enjoyment out of your game. just a warning.

i also reccomend farming cnidrions for the Transformer, it'll come in handy for a long time :)

I think I'm going to attempt it with the Molten Fury. Strongest ranged weapon available right now, so it might be worth a shot with the aerialite gear.
