Calamity - best pre hardmode magic weapon?

I'm about where I would challenge wall of flesh usually but I'll be killing the pre hardmode calamity bosses first. Any advice on what magic weapon to shoot for? I'm using the meteorite space gun right now since it fires fast and with nearly limitless mana but I'd like something with more dps if possible and save meteorite gun as my sustained dps

I personally use the Night/Carnage Ray for dps. (Crafted with magic weapons from the Jungle, Dungeon, Hellstone, and Crimson/Corruption, exactly like the Night's Edge in vanilla) But other than that, that's about the best you can do before you enter hardmode.

Ok so I beat perforator on my second attempt but slime god curbstomped me! Any advice?

I'm gonna see if I can get some aerospec armour meanwhile but im worried about losing the meteorites 50% mana use reduction bonus on space gun. Is it a good idea to farm up a flare bolt/ Is it better than magic missile/meteor space gun?
