just need help really

I've just recently started playing terraria and so far it's an amazing game but so far all i've been able to do is get some basic stuff from chests and not much more, any help would be appreciated. just hmu if you can help

i fell like i'd be able to handle going into dungeons and killing some enemies if i had decent gear but i can't find anything decent

Hm.... Grab wood, build a few houses for you npc's to move into. Craft a workbench, furnace and eventually an anvil when you have enough iron bars. Once you have decent armor and gear, take a visit to the corruption and smash some shadow orbs with bombs. (You can find those in pots and chests and buy from arms dealer.) Shadow orbs give you strong weapons that will help you a lot! Just don't smash more than two. If you smash a third shadow orb....lets just say....you won't be alive much longer. But if your willing to make the sacrifice of getting that weapon and then dying, knock yourself out. This should help get you started! Try watching a youtube play through to help guide you, and maybe download the terreria wiki app on your phone. This will help. A lot. Terreria is a huge game. With the directions I gave you, that's just starting to scratch the surface. Have fun!

Dude helpful tip: go to the crimson destroy 2 hearts but not a third or you will die because they have good loot and sneak into the jungle when you have armor theres good loot.

or just destroy the third orb and use a recall potion
