Are arenas necessary?

Are arenas worth building for bosses? And if so, are there proper ways to do build them, or is it as simple as platforms?

in normal mode, ya definitely don't need many arenas. id make an exception for the moonlord and plantera, but they are mainly just some simple platform and block arenas.

They are needed mainly on expert mode.

i use around 3-4 layers of platforms about 6 blocks apart, i also have campfires and heart lanterns spread out to help regen
you may also want to hook up a heart statue to something

arenas are immensely helpful for fighting bosses. placing campfires and a heart lantern (made with one heart crystal and one chain at an anvil) are hepful. also potions, like ironskin, swiftness, and regeneration.

It depend on the boss and it sure helps preparing a little bit the area for an encounter, maybe clearing out a little bit, planing your movement according to it's paterns and so on
platforms are the most common and traditional way, but railways also work very well

arena is bad. i never build or dig arena. keep original world for animal, tree and water. building.

Arenas are just to taste! Having a good, reliable place to fight can make a lot of bosses easier, but it doesn't haven't to be "an arena" in the traditional sense. When I do playthroughs, I often set up my housing complex with fighting on it in mind.

So you claim you can basically do all the following on expert+ then? :
- beat eater of worlds inside the corruption cave
- beat BoC inside the crimson cave
- beat WoF without a bridge and without destroying houses in your way
- beat plantera without needing to open an area
- beat golem by staying on the floor full of traps
- beat duke fishron on a beach (with only sand, with one side full of water)
- beat any invasion deathless with no trouble (and no cheese, like staying inside a wood box for pirate invasion)

Care to show us some proof? Or are you just trying to look like you are better than you actually are?

And if somehow you still claim you did all of these, do it again on hardcore.
