Is it a good experience to play Thorium and Calamity together?
Recently just finished vanilla terraria and I'm looking on trying out the mod stuff now.
Should I just play both mods together which seems to be what some people have been doing?
Or should I just go with Calamity alone?
I heard that people said that Thorium stuff gets overshadowed because of how nuts the Calamity item gets with progression.

No. In general, it's not a good experience to play any two content mods together. They are never balanced with one another in mind, so you'll always bein a situation where one mod offers better things than the other, in turn making the content from the other mod irrelevant, and their bosses too easy.

Only play one content mod at once. Unless you are sure that those mods won't interact at all in any meaningful way. For example, Weapons Out mod or More Chest Loot are both rather well integrated with the base game, and they don't anything that's disruptive to other mods. But Thorium and Calamity will definitely step on each others toes, I played them together so I know from experience.

Play them separately. This way you'll fully experience both of them, and won't run into a situation where, for example, calamity weapons and accessories are making everything else bad, or vice versa.

Play them alone first. And when you go to add them together make sure to add a lot more to fill the gaps

Both mods add generic mobs to the game which you may think more is better, but say you're trying to get a demon w/ a guide doll to spawn and because of the added mob variety it may take much longer than usual for rng to spawn the mob your looking for, even with a water candle.

simple, craft-able voodoo doll mod.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
