can't enter multiplayer servers

ok so first off i'm not trying to join a friend. i found here https://terraria-servers.com/ some terraria servers and i tried entering and it just didn't work
i put the IP and continue BUT when i put the port and press continue it just doesn't do anything.
does anyone know how to fix this?

if it get stuck on the "connecting to (insert ip here)" screen and the sun/moon stops, then its porbably because the server is down. hope this helps!

no it's not stuck on the connection what i mean by that is it pretty much doesn't do anything when i press the connect button after putting in the port
