can you remove a modifier off a weapon in terraria?

my friend keeps on accusing me of taking my arkhalis off a free items server when it has no modifier, im curious if u could take a modifier off because usually when you cheat one in, it has a legendary modifier. he accused me of taking it off

It is entirely possible to get a weapon without a prefix. Prfixes have a chance to be applied on your weapon upon being dropped (Ex: Bone Sword, Arkhalis, Grenade Launcher, etc.) or when crafted (Ex: Wooden Sword, Great Flameblade, Terra Blade, etc.). You can manually add them with the goblin tinkerer, however, he does not remove them, rather, he will always give you another prefix on your weapon. If you get unlucky (or lucky) enough to get one without a prefix, you would do well to put a prefix on it. Prefixes can change how useful the weapon is by alot, and an Arkalhis with Demonic, or some other similar prefix can last you into Hardmode, and even past 1 or 2 mech bosses.
