Is expert skeletron unbeatable?

I am killed before I can see any visisble decrease in his hp. Before i can get away 75% of my hp is gone and I cant escape a single one of his attacks.

Your equipment looks pretty good, but your strategy sucks. I recommend the Shield of Cthulhu to dash away from him if he gets close.

Edit: I can't read... try using your hook to easily get to different platforms instead of your rocket boots.

Don't give up. I will agree with you, This boss is a Monster. But with the attitude that you currently have, it's no wonder you can't beat him.
I'd offer to help you, but I can't today. Maybe tomorrow?

Edit 2: Are you killing his hands first? If you aren't, that's the reason you aren't doing an acceptable amount of damage.

That's a terrible Idea. Starting Hardmode will spawn HM night monsters that will kill you even quicker than Skele himself. Just run forward and shoot back.

make an arena similar to this, makes the fight pretty easy imo. it's honestly just all about kiting, you have really good accessories & gear for it. it's just about how good you are at kiting the boss, takes some time & practice but it definitely isnt unbeatable p:

Summon an eye of cthulhu the night before, and kill it close to the dungeon entrance, this leaves you with a pile of hearts you can snatch after the initial mess of getting away from him at the start.

At this point I dont see any point in trying to beat him anymore. Even just time to get to the dungeon takes so damn long. Might record it at somepoint to show how fast I die despite 400 hp and my gear.

Actually tried to replicate movement in the videa and I can see myself actually beating him now. Ty. I mean still lost but ty.

I can't understand why people find Expert Skeletron difficult, particularly to the extent where it's regarded as the toughest pre-hardmode boss. In comparison to the Eater of Worlds and Wall of Flesh it's an absolute joke of a fight, virtually every movement Skeletron makes is telegraphed and simply flying in a 0-pattern around him negates all challenge it would've otherwise presented. The most difficult thing about it is you have to fight it at the dungeon the first time (unless you manage to move the Old Man via some convoluted manner) and the terrain is usually against the player in that respect. Even then smoothing out the surface and adding a few lanterns and fireplaces will make the fight significantly easier. You don't even need an arena, just a general sense of situational awareness, half decent accessories and a weapon that can kill it fast enough not to turn it into a glorified Dungeon Guardian by day.

Well then, perhaps you should take the time to make your world a bit easier to manouvre or simply lay a railroad accross the map? Then you can get to skeleton in one minute, regardless of your map size.

I know I'm quite late, but the shield of cthulu worked wonders for me when I was fighting expert skeletron.
