can't place heart lantern/star in a bottle on the underside of platforms?

When they're flipped to the lower half of a block, you're supposed to be able to hang things from platforms, right? I can't hang the Heart Lantern or Star in a Bottle from the underside of platforms when they're like that. I can hang banners, though. Is that normal?

as far as I know you can only hang them on blocks.

You can't hang them from platforms, pretty unfortunate to be honest. If you want try making a long bridge of both solid blocks and platforms (about 10 or so tiles alternating between each other) and then place the lanterns on the underside of them, maybe a few campfires or fireplaces above as well. Also place the lanterns as far away as you can from the last one until the debuff disappears, rather than placing them within like 1 block of each other.

actually you can hang them on platforms if you hammer them enough times to make them lower.

That's what i said i was doing. I can hang banners from them, but not lanterns.

I've been trying to do this as well, as this is what it says in the wiki but it's not working. does anyone know if this is just incorrect in the wiki, a bug or even just confirm that they've done it before?

This is super annoying bug. Definitely a bug, since every hanging thing except lanterns works.

Fun fact: I came here looking for answers, but I found out myself what I was looking for: in fact, you can’t place lanterns under platforms at all, or under blocks hammered once... However, you can place them under blocks before hammering them once to make them look like platforms, even though they are not. This is the closest you can get from that, and despite it being a shame, this is quite an useful building tip! That’s what I was searching for
