How many demonic altars do you destroy?

Doing an expert mode playthrough with some mods and was wondering how many altars you guys usually destroy?
I used to destroy as many as possible, but I've recently learnt that each destroyed altar also spreads corruption/hallowed.

Is that a bad thing though? It increases areas for soul farming and special mob spawns

No, it's not. Destroying more will slightly increase the amount of ore.

the spreading of corruption can be easily handle with items. Game does not end if u have a world that is 100% corruption, Does nto effect the npc either.as long your house is not corruptupted yr good. Also You can even play with out smaching a signle altars. if u like fishing u can save up iron and gold creates and open them in hardmode you will get your ores u need. Gold is better bc u can get more ore per box. u will need about 10+ gold chest should be enough.

I have done some fishing while saving the crates, but not to the extend that you are suggesting. Have about 13 woods, 1 iron and 2 gold crates.
I'm fine with mining a bit, I was just curious how much of a factor destroying a multitude of altar's would bring.

think like this for each set of alters u smash u get the same amout of corruption/hallow as u would get for ore. its not really that big. Yea this does spread it a bit more bc it can spawn anywere but like i said its not a big deal as u can buy items to remove said corruptions.

3, but you can destroy none if you collect tons of crates, it isn't a big issue for destroying more, as long as you contained your buildings and have tools to see beyond walls, because you will get more harmode ores to mine, although in less percentage each altar destroyed.

What I don't reccomend is destroying all of the altars because Terra Blade and boss farm.

All it does is create more Crimruption to deal with, I just fish up crates instead or skip the armour entirely.

Same. I also dig around corruption so that it wont spread when hardmode starts and doing that is a lot of work. So smashing an altar will spread corruption outside made bounds

id recommend doing only 3 or 6; doing too much will spread a [NOT CHRISTIAN ENOUGH] ton of corruption/crimson/hallow around ur world

Corruption/Crimson is easily stopable. if you are able to kill the mech bosses and get the cleminator (however you spell it) you can easily get rid of it, or snow blocks. that stops it unless it spreads in a very unlucky way. besides... i always hallow my base for protection in hardmode, constant gel, pixie dust, and unicorn horns. a good combination for free torches and holy arrows for destroyer.

Clentaminator is not productive enough especialy on large worlds. You cant find the corruption that was spawned by altars fast enough. I build a gray brick wall around the base with towers on each side

i usally bust around 6, maybe more. corruption/crimson doesent really bug me. if it bugs you, spread a bunch of hallow around your base and npcs.
